Having lived in the Ashton-Under-Lyne area all my life I decided to join the Management Committee because I wanted to make a real difference for the local community. I use my assets based knowledge and skills to support the development of the Community Centre by providing effective leadership and ensuring that community cohesion is the heart of what I do. I do this by using my local understanding of the needs of the community combined with my professional experience. Being a qualified social worker has enabled me to work across health and social care and the voluntary sector for almost 20 years. This has given me the opportunity to work with the most vulnerable and marginalised groups of our society, whether it be in mental health, child and adult protection, the Black Ethnic and Minority (BME) groups or people that are living in poverty, this experience has empowered me to bring my operational and strategic leadership assets to provide better outcomes for the local population against the projects strategic objectives in improving the lives of the local BME women. I am looking forward to working with the community centre in building a better future for our local community and empowering and coaching others to make a real difference.
